HOWL

We are HOWL, an all-female and nonbinary vocal ensemble from the UK. Hailing from a range of diverse musical backgrounds from opera to folk and musical theatre, we are brought together through our love of complex, lush, haunting and often absurd vocal music. We perform original compositions along with arrangements of folk songs and works by composers such as Meredith Monk, Moondog and Caroline Shaw, often weaving in our own soundscapes and field recordings to our live show. Our debut EP was produced by Cosmo Sheldrake and released on his label Tardigrade Records in 2022. We provided vocals on Cosmo's forthcoming album, and are the featured artist on his track 'The Feet Are The Link'. We have also worked with other artists such as Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler, Johnny Flynn, Mr Jukes and Barney Artist and Josephine Foster. We are always keen to collaborate with other artists so please get in touch for commissions or backing vocals. In 2024 we will release our second EP “Night Creatures” on Tardigrade Records, a collaboration with the nature writer Robert Macfarlane. This collection of original compositions explores the life of certain nocturnal animals - moths and glow worms, for example, among them. HOWL is Kate Huggett, Elly Condron, Natty Pela, Rose Stachniewska, Lydia Samuels, Rosalie Warner, Clay Slade, Helen Potter and Heloise Turnstall-Behrens. Photo credit: Marika Kochiashvili
